Our story

AI education for
actual people

AskIt was built by one person in Montréal who got tired of watching the people around them feel left behind by a technology that was changing everything.

Built out of
frustration

I watched my mum try to understand what everyone kept calling "the most important technology of our generation." She's a smart person. She just couldn't find anything that explained it for her, instead of for people who already knew what a language model was.

I watched colleagues nod along in meetings about AI strategy while quietly having no idea what any of it actually meant in practice. I watched a friend — a brilliant person, a small business owner — turn down a tool that could have saved her ten hours a week because nobody had taken the time to just show her how it worked.

So I built AskIt. One person, one city, one strong conviction: non-technical people deserve better AI education. Not a watered-down version. The real thing, taught properly.

I'm not a big company. I don't have a marketing budget or a VC. I have a laptop, a deep belief that this matters, and a commitment to keeping every lesson honest, practical, and genuinely useful for the people who need it most.

AI literacy for
everyone

Regardless of your age, your background, or whether you've ever written a line of code in your life.

🧠
Understanding, not just access
We don't just want people to use AI tools. We want them to understand what they're using well enough to make good decisions about when, how, and whether to use them at all.
🌍
No prerequisites
No tech background. No coding experience. No expensive device. If you have an internet connection and 10 minutes, you can learn something real on AskIt.
🎯
Practical above all else
Every lesson connects to something real. We measure success by whether you actually do something differently — not by how many videos you watch.

We made different
choices

Most AI education is built for developers, or is so simplified it's basically useless. We chose a different path.

vs. jargon-heavy courses
Plain language that actually explains things
We don't use technical language as a shortcut. Every concept is explained in plain English — not because we think you can't handle complexity, but because clarity is harder and more respectful than jargon.
vs. passive video content
Hands-on from the first lesson
Every lesson includes interactive exercises and most include a live AI you can talk to right on the page. Learning by doing isn't a feature — it's the whole point. You can't get good at something you've only watched.
vs. generic examples
Built for real life, not demos
Our scenarios come from the actual lives of the people we built this for — retirees, small business owners, professionals, students. Not developer walkthroughs with toy problems nobody has in the real world.
vs. hype and fear
Honest about what AI is and isn't
We don't tell you AI will save your job or destroy it. We tell you what it's actually good at, where it fails, and how to think clearly about it — because informed people make better decisions than scared or over-excited ones.
